What does pressure washing cost in Halifax?

Nobody can give you a real number over the internet, but you can absolutely understand what moves it. Here is what a quote is actually built from.

A washed Nova Scotia home exterior with clean siding and a wet driveway after pressure washing

It is the first question almost everybody asks, and it is a fair one. The honest answer is that anyone who gives you a firm price for a house wash without knowing anything about the house is guessing, and a guess is usually high enough to cover being wrong.

What is far more useful is understanding what a quote is actually built from, because then you can look at your own place and know roughly where you sit.

Size is the obvious one, but it is not the biggest one

Square footage matters, but two houses the same size can be very different jobs. A straightforward single storey bungalow with clear access all the way round is quick. A two and a half storey with dormers, a steep bank on one side and a deck built tight against the wall is not, even if the wall area is similar.

How bad it actually is

There is a difference between a house that is washed regularly and has a season of pollen on it, and a house that has not been touched in ten years and has heavy algae growth on two walls. The second one is not a rinse. It needs product, it needs dwell time, and it may need a second pass.

This is the single biggest reason two quotes on the same street come back different.

What the surface is

Vinyl in decent condition is the easy case. Older wood, painted surfaces, stucco and cladding all need a softer approach and more care, which takes longer. Anything that needs a genuine soft wash rather than pressure is more labour, not less.

Access

Can we get a hose and a person to every wall, or is there a fence, a steep grade, a garden bed you do not want trampled, or a neighbour's building a metre away? Height matters too. Anything that needs a lift is a different conversation than anything reachable from the ground.

How much is getting done at once

The setup and the travel are the same whether we clean one wall or the whole outside of the property. That is why doing the house, the deck and the fence in one visit is almost always better value than three separate visits, and why a yard full of trucks costs less per unit than one truck.

Why commercial is quoted completely differently

Fleet and heavy equipment work is not priced like a house at all. It is about how many units, how bad they are, where the site is, and what the access and site requirements look like. A quarry haul truck packed with set clay and a box truck with road film are not the same job even though both are one unit.

How to get a number you can actually use

Tell us what it is, where it is, and what shape it is in. Photos of the worst wall help more than anything else you can send. Then you get a straight number for your actual property instead of a range that means nothing.

Straight answers

Quick answers

Why will nobody quote pressure washing over the phone?
Because the price is driven by condition and access as much as by size, and neither of those can be judged without seeing the property. A phone number given blind has to be padded to cover the worst case, which usually means you pay more.
Is it cheaper to get the house, deck and fence done together?
Generally yes. The travel and the setup are the same regardless of how much gets cleaned once we are there, so combining them into one visit costs less than booking them separately.
Does a dirtier house cost more to wash?
Yes. Heavy algae growth needs cleaning product and dwell time and sometimes a second pass, where a lightly soiled house is much closer to a straightforward wash.
